Greenhouse

IMG_3042 - Copy-4.jpg

Photo shows the external view of the greenhouse. It has 26' diameter allows for 510 sq. ft. of floor space. The pond is located on the north side of the dome and the growing beds line the outer, interior wall to utilize maximum sunlight from sunrise to sunset.

Raised beds form the shape of cogs toward the centre bed, instead of parallel to the outer wall. This pattern makes for ease of maintaining the beds, planting and harvesting. There is enough space between the outer beds and the centre one to accommodate a large wheelbarrow.

The centre bed frame is 18 inches high and 10.5 feet to the ceiling vent, which makes it an ideal space for small fruit trees. An arbor will be needed to support the trees once they begin to produce fruit.

Water in the pond will not only regulate the temperature of the greenhouse year-round, it will provide the environment for aquatic flora such as watercress. In the future, poor li moond is anticipates adding trout to the pond, once it is operating well to accommodate fish.

With much appreciated help of a dozen individuals, poor li moond constructed a growing dome with an underground heating system to allow for year-round growing and harvesting of vegetables and herbs.

Lemon, clementine, and pomegranate grow in the centre of the greenhouse. For temperature regulation, a 1200-gallon pond was installed. The pond provides the ideal environment for freshwater aquatic flora and fauna.
